Landslides in Southwest China kills 23 villagers

A landslide caused by heavy rain kills at least 23 villagers in Southwest China, authorities said.

They said two people are still missing.
The Gengdi village was hit by the landslide in Sichuan province early Tuesday. Rescuers could haul one individual out from the rubble, and four others had minor injuries.

It’s been learned that 71 houses were destroyed and a 5-kilometer (3-mile) stretch of street was damaged. The landslide costs 160 million yuan ($23.9 million), according to the officials.
